Peter Tu is Of Counsel to Kim IP. With over 25 years of experience (including 20 years of experience as in-house counsel) in intellectual property law, licensing, litigation and client counseling on corporate, employment law and other legal matters, Peter brings valuable insight and experience to providing practical, business-focused legal advice to his clients. Peter has extensive experience with patent portfolio strategy, IP due diligence, dispute resolution (arbitration, mediation and litigation), and transactional matters.
While Peter has represented clients both large and small, his practice focuses on advising entrepreneurs and emerging growth companies that have a need for IP and legal advice. Peter’s clients are in a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, electronics, medical devices, and computer software. He is also admitted to the patent bar, having procured and prosecuted patents for several major corporations.
Peter graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall Law School, where he served as the Symposium Editor for the Seton Hall Law Review. Prior to law school, Peter graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biology. Peter also earned an MBA in Finance from Seton Hall University. Peter has clerked for Justice Stewart Pollock (New Jersey Supreme Court) and Judge Leonard Garth (Third Circuit Court of Appeals). Peter also teaches as an adjunct professor at Seton Hall Law School and Seton Hall’s Stillman School of Business (MBA Program).
