Senior Counsel

Bruce George has more than 25 years of ever-developing intellectual property law experience, at respected Philadelphia law firms, involving patent and trademark prosecution, litigation, counseling, opinion preparation, licensing and IP due diligence for corporate, university, high technology, and emerging business clients. Focusing on the evaluation, acquisition, transfer, commercialization and enforcement of intellectual property rights, including copyright, trade secret and data rights protections, Bruce also drafts and negotiates client corporate transactions, IP licenses, and technology agreements.

Bruce is ardently committed to aiding clients with the development of IP strategies and portfolios best aligning their IP assets with their business goals and technology. This includes U.S. and international patent (utility and design) prosecution and procurement, which routinely involves interaction with USPTO personnel to expeditiously and best advance cases to allowance.

Additionally, Mr. George counsels clients with IP evaluation and risk assessment, including preparation of patentability, validity, design around, and freedom to operate opinions. Further, Bruce performs trademark prosecution, counseling, licensing, registration availability and freedom to use opinions. Lastly, Mr. George is involved with patent, trademark and corporate litigation, including motion practice, discovery, expert opinion preparation, Markman hearing efforts, mediation conferences, and evidence presentation at hearings and at trial.

Representative matters include: expediting patent procurement for start-up entities thereby facilitating early venture investment; leveraging client patents to acquire licensing revenue without litigation; defending client providers against utility and design patent infringement claims in U.S. Federal District Courts; defending clients against non-practicing entity patent infringement claims by instituting Inter Partes Review patent validity challenges at the USPTO; and instituting UDRP proceedings for domain name transfers and take-downs for the illegal/fraudulent activity of client competitors.

Prior to his law career, Mr. George was a licensed Professional Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers performing various aspects of project engineering, such as electrical, mechanical and civil design, Architect/Engineer project management, construction contract administration and dispute resolution, engineering supervision, and construction management directed to civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering projects, including sewage treatment facilities, aircraft hangars, fuel distribution systems, electrical power substations, HVAC and energy monitoring systems, telecommunications and fiber optic systems.
