Y. Jae Kim is the managing partner of Kim IP.  With an extensive background in engineering and intellectual property law, Mr. Kim brings a wealth of experience and personal attention to the practice of law.  As a trusted advisor and counselor, Mr. Kim strives to bring excellence to the service of his clients in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent procurement, opinions, licensing and, if necessary, litigation.

In addition to being a consummate professional, dedicated to the practice of intellectual property law, Mr. Kim is an avid family man who enjoys the benefits of managing a law practice in suburban southern New Jersey.  Prior to joining Kim IP, Mr. Kim worked for major law firms, such as Darby & Darby, PC in New York City and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP in Philadelphia. In addition, Mr. Kim spent over a decade working in the medical device industry as an engineer for companies, including Becton Dickinson & Co. and Stryker Corporation.

In addition to his dedication to the practice of law, Mr. Kim served on the Board of Directors for the Treatment Research Institute in Philadelphia, various committees for the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania and the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey, and was previously appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to serve on the District Ethics Committee for Camden County.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Mr. Kim has litigated patents involving technologies such as trading cards, high speed assembly processes, optical devices, and waste solidification processes, in addition to trademark and copyright cases.  Mr. Kim has also represented clients with respect to patent matters in a wide variety of technological arts/industries including drilling tools, orthopedic implants and instruments, medical devices, electromechanical devices, chemical components, plasma sterilization devices, food apparatuses and printed circuit boards.
